Calling someone a quitter or a loser used to be an insult, but these days it’s a compliment. Just turn on the media and you’ll find several shows that celebrate the hard work and determination of those who are losing excess weight and making healthy lifestyle choices.

Whether you’re a business owner, a parent, the newbie in your company, or anyone else who has influence over others, you can challenge your family, friends, and coworkers to become quitters and losers. How? By joining our Quitters and Losers Club with a goal of encouraging fellow club members to quit their unhealthy habits and lose their unhealthy “extras”–extra pounds, excess cholesterol, and extra blood pressure points.

When it comes to your health, you have a fairly short grace period or window of opportunity. When you’re young, you might seem to get away with staying up all night, failing to exercise, and living on a diet of junk food, caffeine, alcohol, or worse. Beware, though, because that window closes before you know it, and those bad habits start taking their toll. Suddenly you start putting on extra pounds every year, listening to your joints creak and groan, and gasping for breath when you walk up the stairs. If you don’t take charge, you’re likely to hit the point of no return and spend the rest of your life dealing with irreversible health conditions like diabetes or lung disease.
